Boggart Hole Clough

Less than half a mile away is Boggart Hole Clough. Steeped in history and combining a number of picturesque areas, the park is an attractive haven for relaxation and also boasts a number of activities, from boating to athletics, and is well worth a visit. The park stages a number of cross-country events, mountain bike rides, summer Fun Days and an annual bonfire and firework display.

Charlestown is well served in terms of green space and parks with significant open spaces such as Tweedale Common, Blackley Forest, Nutbank Common and the Irk Valley, a green walkway linking north Manchester to the city centre.

Heaton Park

Approximately three miles away is Heaton Park, the largest municipal park in Europe and the former estate of the Earl of Wilton. Owned by Manchester City Council since 1902, the park offers a variety of sporting, leisure and cultural activities. Within the park can be found the Grade-I listed Heaton Hall, together with the Orangery - a unique setting for private functions including weddings.

Horse-riding, golf, boating, bowls and pitch & putt are all available for visitors plus a Horticultural Centre which has a vast selection of floral displays and plants to purchase.
